PanopticonNYC is the home for Christopher Piazza’s work as a director, director of photography and camera operator. Piazza has been directing and shooting for over ten years, and has worked on major network television shows, huge live concerts, broadcast commercials, independent webseries, and everything in between.
As a director, Piazza has directed commercials for the USDA and Ad Council, Audi and Volkswagen. He has also directed several visually dynamic music videos that have appeared on MTV2, MTVu, Much Music Canada and at many film festivals across the country. Piazza also co-created and directed an original six-episode comedy webseries, The Adventures of Shakespeare and Watson, and created and directed over thirty episodes of his own music webseries, Panopticon360 and All Axis Music.
His work as a director of photography ranges from commercial to television to live music. Piazza has DP-ed over twenty episodes of the FYI original series Tiny House Hunting, and has also shot for Househunters International and Selling NY. He also shot a series of over a dozen national ads for DirecTV, and has DP-ed numerous internet based pieces of commercial content for Nike, eSurance, Heineken, Pandora Radio and many other brands. Piazza has also DP-ed twenty-plus episodes of the PBS live music series Live From the Artists Den for artists such as Robert Plant, The National, Elvis Costello, Vampire Weekend and many more.
As a camera operator, he has focused mostly on live music, having been a part of literally hundreds of live shows for artists such as Beyonce, Eminem, Girl Talk, The Shins, Public Enemy, Dr. John with Bruce Springsteen and many more. He has also shot for the Rock the Bells, Governor’s Ball, Cochella and Bonnaroo music festivals, most notably the Skrillex Superjam documentary at Bonnaroo with legendary rock photographer Danny Clinch directing. He has also operated camera on Jerry Seinfeld’s webseries Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and the PBS docu-series Broadway or Bust.
